Nelly B, born on June 1974, in Gasparillo, Trinidad and Tobago. Nelly B at an early age of 7 years started singing at the Gasparillo Four Square Penticostal Church, where she would sing solo and also in the church choir.
Nelly B attended St. Peter's School Point-a-Pierre in 1981. She joined the drama class in 1982 where the cast did the play for “The Sound of Music”. Nelly B was also part of the St. Peter's School choir and swim team. As Nelly B grew up and attended Gasparillo Composite in 1985, she continued to be involved with music and always taking part in all school activities. Nelly B was always a driving force towards her classmates and people around her. She always did and still has a positive attitude about her.
Nelly B sang backup at her first calypso competition at Gasparillo Composite School in the early part of 1986 with four of her friends where they placed 2 nd with “The Youths Today” as the song title.
Nelly B and her friends went on to compete in the San Fest School competition, making it thru to the semi-finals at Gulf City Auditorium in the later part of 1986. The group got qualified to move on to the finals; that was held at the Naparima Bowl in San Fernando in 1987.
In July 2004, Nelly B made her first public debut performing at one of the biggest B-B-Q held in Toronto for one of the Government Parties the “Liberals”, where she did a medley of Soca, Reggae, and R&B with Curtis B.
Nelly B first recorded song “Ah Like It” was released in November 2006. The lyrics was done by songwriter “Lava Rebel” out of New York, produced by “Juice Man” from the big band “RoyCape” out of Trinidad, and mastered by “Big Rich” from Masala 101. Nelly B then did collaboration with Curtis “B” for their 2008 soca “ Wine & Wave”. The song was written by Nelly “B”, Curtis “B” and Kris (a.k.a De Xclusive JTC) and was recorded in Trinidad back in May 2007; in addition the track was produced and mastered by Big Rich.
Nelly B is inspired foremost by the “ALMIGHTY GOD” and her family and friends to pursue her singing career. Her influences is her loving husband Kris and people like C. Wyllie, Wallace, and the DOC just to name a few. She was also encouraged by the lives and careers of other artist who followed their dreams.
Nelly B is currently in studio again working on other projects and is hoping to release a couple more of tracks for 2008. Together with her husband Kris, they are now doing songwriting and production for a couple other songs.
Nelly B is following her dreams and gives “God Thanks” for the talent he has blessed her with and the support of the people for her success as an upcoming artist.
